Self-defrost (or frost-free) is a cleaning design feature in freezers. Self-defrosting is an automatic defrost cycling process requiring no intervention from the user. It works by heating coils inside the freezer at regular intervals to prevent frost build-up. It's a Brandt Apollo frost free combined fridge and freezer. I'm not sure (can't find one) if it has an appliance code. Last week, both the fridge and freezer compartments were warmer than they should be. After reading the manual we managed to over-ride the freezer by activating the 'fast freeze' switch. The moisture that enters the fridge-freezer with warm air or products will settle on the coldest part, being the back wall. Because the back wall can reach temperatures below freezing, the drops will freeze from time to time. When the fridge-freezer is idle the drops will thaw and flow to the drain of the fridge-freezer.
