· CZ 75B - with DeCocker or Safety? Jump to Latest Follow As far as the manual safety on the B models, on one of the 2 that I have, the safety does not engage as positively as say a On the other (a matte stainless) the safety is the ambi-dextrous one, and engages detents on both sides of the frame and is much more positive. · Manual of arms somewhat simpler (decocker/safeties excepted) Safer than thumbing the hammer down should pistol need to be decocked Slide manipulation is somewhat safer with a decocker rather than a safety that must be disengaged to move slide; many older pistols operate this way. · CZ with manual safety is like a - cocked and locked -- draw - take safety off - ready aim fire. CZ with a decocking lever would need to be carried hammer down - draw - fire first round in DA - then the rest can be fired in SA.
DA/SA with decocker on the end of the slide and no manual safety and Glock 18 size. The P is a superb pistol and my all time favorite and EDC. I own two and will buy a third. The handguns in the CZ line employ 2 different primary or active safety mechanisms: the manual safety or the decocking lever. For my next pistol I'm considering a CZ P07 and I would keep the decocker on. I have a that I just shoot at the range but I practice frequently with it to disengage the safety to shoot. I'll keep the decocker on the P07 to get experience with DA/SA shooting and also have something different than I already have which is 3 strikers and a.
My CZ 97bd may very well be my favorite firearm to date. Every I own has a decocker and I prefer it over a manual safety. The CZ 97bd lowers the hammer just above the firing pin and the weight of the trigger is slightly higher than the single action, yet considerably lower than the double action. MY personal opinion is that a decocker is a safety (sort of) that you use when everything is fine (before reholster, storage etc). A manual safety is something "extra" to operate when you actually need the pistol. Additionally, with the manual safety gun, you have the option to convert it from DA/SA to a SA only gun, where as with the decocker gun, you don't. So like howard said, the safety versions just gives you more options and an easier time if you're looking to customize.
